Is the multi-modal AEC therapy similar to lasers?
No, this is a non-medical aesthetic procedure based on the principle of light and that energy to produce a broadband pulsed light source that is effective for acne control with virtually no downtime at all.
Lasers, on the other hand, are medical aesthetic procedures that produce a monochromic coherent light source that are often used for treatment of highly-targeted areas. Only qualified medical doctors are allowed to operate lasers in Singapore.
How should I be attired when I come for my facial treatment?
You may come in any clothing you feel comfortable. A facial gown will be provided for you to change into before your treatment. This allows your beauty therapist to work effectively while you are kept relaxed and comfortable throughout the session. Some customers with contact lenses may prefer to wear glasses on the day they come for facial. Please speak to any Astalift Beauty Therapist for advice if you are unsure.
Will any downtime be expected after an Acne Eliminating Care (AEC) treatment?
No, there will not be any downtime because AEC is neither an invasive treatment nor involves use of any needles or procedures that would create wounds requiring healing. Mild redness immediately after an AEC treatment is commonly experienced only temporarily as a normal healing response of the skin to the heat and light energy delivered during the therapy.
How many treatments are required before visible results can be seen?
The response to facial treatments differs between individuals as the skin condition, concerns and settings are never the same. For targeted skin problems like acne and congested skin concerns, typically 4-6 treatments of AEC are required before visible improvements such as reduction in oil levels of skin, control of acne and lightening of scars can be experienced. Subsequent treatments are often recommended for the maintenance of results and optimal care for your skin condition.
Is it normal for my skin to experience some dryness the next day after my AEC treatment?
Yes, it is not uncommon to experience temporary skin dryness after the treatment because of accelerated skin cell repair as a result of heat and light stimulation. Not only are dead cells and clogs exfoliated but acne-causing bacteria are destroyed while excess sebum is also reduced in the process. The skin hydration levels should be restored and revitalised after 2-3 days. Therefore, adequate moisturization, homecare and sun protection during this period is very important
